Criminal Defense (Federal & State)

For 23 years before becoming General Counsel of the Vermont Agency of Education in 2006, I handled a broad range of criminal matters, with an emphasis on federal criminal defense.  The federal focus stemmed from my international upbringing, and from the fact that Vermont's location on the Canadian border makes it a jurisdiction that sees a disproportionate number of international criminal cases.  I am well-versed in the complex connections between immigration and criminal law, and in the law of extradition.   I do not generally accept criminal cases involving allegations of violence.
