Public Service

I am drawn to public service in whatever I do.  I have done rule of law training in Russia, education policy development in China, and human rights court development in India.  While serving as General Counsel of the Vermont Agency of Education from 2006-2013, I became chair of my national counterpart organization (the National Council of State Education Attorneys (NCOSEA).  In that capacity, I served ex officio on the board of the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE).  I continue to serve pro bono as Vermont's Military Compact Commissioner, helping to ensure that no militarily-connected child suffers education-related disadvantage as the result of his or her family's military connection.  I have been a National Ski Patrolman since 1973, and I teach field medicine and patient transportation.
